Highlight Booster- Great for natural hair.
Monday, September 28th, 2009So, you want to know how to boost that color naturally without all the chemicals. Here is 3 recipes you can try at home. If you use these recipes several times a week, your hair’s natural highlights should begin to appear brighter and you will notice a real difference in a month or so.
31/2 cups of distilled water
Blondes: sunflower petals, chamomile flowers and lemon rind
For brown/black hair: sage, nettle, rosemary, crushed black walnut hulls
Red heads: calendula blossoms, hibiscus flowers, red clover flowers, rose hips, red rose petals.
I would suggest to use organic herbs if you can find them.
Use the herbs that are specified for your hair color, ONLY. Use daily or as desired.
You will need a spoon, strainer, container and a plastic squeeze bottle.
Direction:
In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil and remove from heat. Add 5 heaping tablespoons of your herbs of choice according to your hair color. Stir the herbs inside the water and allow to steep for 30 mintues.
Strain, and pour int the squeeze bottle, label the bottle with a date.
You can keep it refrigerated for 7 days.
Application: Shampoo and condition hair and rinse, or simply wet hair. Squeeze excess water out and generously pour herbal liquid over your hair until saturated. Squeeze out excess. Do not rinse. You may follow the rinse with a leave in conditioner. If you have chemically treated hair you may not get the results you desire, but will highlight and soften the hair with a subtle difference.
Use dark towels because the herbs can stain light-colored towels.
